A great majority of NGOs largely depends on donor funding. The key factor tied to autonomy of NGOs is non dependency on one donor. As a second strategy NGO can look for alternative to official aid. Basically these are :

1. Income Generating Activities

2. Local Fund raising through public, corporation, local foundations etc.

3. External financing ( venture capital , revolving loan/ credit funds etc)

For NGOs raising money domestically is perhaps the strongest alternative to be viable, autonomous, and truly indigenous. However, philanthropic tradition is still weak and domestic fund raising is in infancy in our country. Thus we should give special priority in fundraising.
